As Capcom approached their climax in the 2D fighter genre, a challenger arose to face them. While the Naomi hardware was providing some neat 3D backgrounds, most of Capcom's fighters were not moving much beyond the sprites laid down on the CPS 2 hardware. Enter ARC System Works, who looked to make a statement to their cult classic Guilty Gear. Guilty Gear X came out on the scene and dazzled the pants off of everyone with its highly detailed character sprites and colorful cast of characters. It also hosted an insane amount of technial aspects to its fighting system. Matt and Max try to access the inner reaches of their brains and pull out those dusty memories of going toe to toe in Guilty Gear X on the Dreamcast so long ago!
