A thing to remember about this game genre: Which decision makes sense at which time is completely up to the future level layout. Decisions have to be made, so unless the level is made to be tolerant of suboptimal choices, it will be necessary to go back and reroute, potentially a very long way. So far, A Courageous Rescue seems like it might not have that tolerance, so this is normal and expected. Progress on an initial run is mostly measured by how many new rooms were revealed on the map, so lots was made today.
