Dune: The Battle for Arrakis (Sega Genesis) - Atreides Mission 7 - Playthrough
Dune 2, based of Frank Herbert's novel of the same name; is one of my favorite classic games, an underrated gem; given it's history basically creating the RTS genre as a whole. There's a lot of history for this game, as the one that Westwood made before Command & Conquer (another favorite of mine), but just know that while Dune hasn't aged the greatest; it still has a certain sense of appeal... especially for those who like retro gaming.
Mission 7 finally allows faction specific units; allowing for Sonic Tanks, Deviators and Devastators to be built. I find each faction has a unique unit that's fun in certain situations; but the balance is kinda skewed in my opinion.
House Atreides Sonic Tanks are amazing at taking out low armored units; so Infantry, Trikes, Quads and Missile Tanks get decimated by them, they also can hit large buildings multiple times as the Sonic blast pierces multiple targets, and has good range to boot; so if the enemy has a bunch of units or buildings all lined up, a single shot can hit all of them, allowing for massive damage; but caution must be used as Sonic Tanks are a huge friendly fire liability, and they don't have great armor.
House Harkonnen Devastators are basically Siege Tanks on steroids. While much slower, they have insane bulk, making them a major pain to take down without focus fire; and they self destruct on death, potentially damaging anyone around them. They are ideal for front line defense when assaulting enemy bases, as your rockets can pelt the base while the Devastator stands guard in front or draws enemy fire.
Finally, House Ordos Deviators are weird. They hard counter Devastators, since you can deviate them, and order them to self-destruct, but other then that; they suck at building offense, and their value of 'taking enemy units' is pretty minimal. It can be useful when attacking an enemy base to turn their guards into your army; but they lack good bulk, and their nerve gas sometimes wears off really quickly... still, deviating the enemy Harvesters, having them drop off the cash into your base, and then parking them in front of your Rocket Turrets before the nerve gas wears off is plenty of fun.
