Big thoughts on this one.
I was playing on Normal mode which is Level 4 in Arcade games generally.
I can't imagine this game on level 8.
Hands down the hardest Beat 'Em Up I have ever played.
You need 4 players to get through this one unless you are skilled.
You've got my respect if you can single-player this.
It was like a Beat 'Em Up / Adventure / RPG, sort of.
So this game plays more along the lines of,
Defend/Attack/Defend/Attack.
I kept trying to play it like a normal Beat 'Em Up.
It's weird messing with the inventory in a Beat 'Em Up.
I just found it kind of distracting, and would
rather just pick the items up in gameplay.
Then either use them manually or automatically.
I felt a lot of input lag in this game which I normally don't feel.
I did play this through MAME, and an old version at that.
Never has been an issue before, so maybe it's the game emulation.
It made the fighter feel sluggish and non-responsive.
The game at times was just eating my controller inputs.
Don't get me wrong I played terribly and don't know this game well.
Other things were screwing me up though.
Some enemy hits seemed unavoidable,
or I would get stun-locked.
I figured out eventually how to block with my shield.
You have to hold the attack button "A".
Then press the opposite direction you are facing.
It felt very unintuitive and not quick enough
to do it in time to block an upcoming hit.
Maybe the magic users are better.
Great graphics, story, and music as always with Capcom.
It's the Dark Souls of Beat 'Em Ups... lol. Brutal!!!
