I was thinking about the number of comments from players who find it very difficult to play Dwarf Fortress, who struggle with the game, but who would like to play it but who are turned off by the complexity barrier. So I came up with my list of what I think are the ten most important tips for players new to the game.

Only a couple of these are 'techniques', the majority are 'principles' and I hope these principles help people find enjoyment within the game by approaching it differently.

Many of you viewers will also have your own list. Please add them to the comments and please up-vote any tips you think would help new players.
