Dwarf Fortress is both an old and a new game - old in that the original (using ascii graphics) has been around for years, new in that the premium edition with actual graphics, mouse control etc launched on Steam just a few weeks ago.

One way you can maximise your chances of your Fortress being successful is to choose exactly what you embark with but you only have so many points to play with. This video is going to show you some things you can do to effectively increase the number of points you have available by changing what you take without decreasing the amount of useful stuff you hasve shortly after arrival.
