After spending about 2 hours in the update it's not a WAVE based mode where units constantly spawn until you die. Instead of using your custom loadouts a Mystery Box is on the map where you can spend 150 credits to get a random gun. No new items other then the upgrader (seems it's barely functioning ) for allowing to put attachments on your guns. More in the video above.
