Rogue Legacy is the result of a scientific accident wherein someone spilled Nethack into a vial of Castlevania. The results are impressive! Its random dungeons and treasures, along with its good-natured sense of doom pay homage to roguelikes, but it's thoroughly a platformer at heart. It's also insanely replayable, just like roguelikes (the developers over at Cellar Door Games use the term "roguelite" to avoid it being called a roguelike-like.)
