ELDEN RING - Defeating Astel, Naturalborn of the Void
0The Lord of all Big Caster Things (or 'Malformed Stars' as they are called on the Elden Ring wiki)!
To get to this area to fight him, you must cross the Lake of Rot area that following Ranni's questioned will eventually lead you to. To cross you need to run to each of the small pillars and step on the buttons in front of them, which will raise more land and allow you to get to the next pillar etc. Eventually you will be able to get into a temple-city looking area called the Grand Cloister. Going up the street and then left will take you to a coffin which you can use to get here.
It's very interesting because this guy uses Gravity magic and has the big mandibles like the Malformed Stars AND Fallingstar Beasts found throughout the game, usually underground or at what appears to be a meteor crash site outside the capital. I would guess that they initially crash as the armored Fallingstar Beasts and then attempt to metamorphos into this form, but end up as Malformed Stars. It's amazing how much lore we can glean just from these monster designs!
