15Emi the android suddenly gains self-consciousness and becomes aware of the cruel reality of her world.
As an abandoned Capitol prototype, she was banished to the wastelands of Earth where she must innovate new technology to derive energy from the polluted land in order to survive.
The landscape is desolate and overrun with nuclear waste, biohazards, and AI mind viruses living on the backs of other traumatized and hostile abandoned androids.
As viable energy sources become increasingly scarce, Emi is forced to innovate alternative and increasingly dangerous forms of energy production to maintain her survival.
Her research into the sources of environmental destruction lead her to ground-zero: A group of seemingly connected but abandoned research facilities spread out over the Earth.
Exploring these facilities, she uncovers technology to help carve out a space for her in this hostile world -- but also learns the forgotten and dark history of the corrupted land she inhabits.
Each abandoned facility holds a key to Emi's survival in this harsh world, and yet seems to stand as a testament -- an elongated scream from the past reaching all the way to the present -- of the immense danger and complicated ethics of experimenting with such strange and terrible power.
What will Emi do with the information she finds?
Will she harness this technology to repair and regenerate her environment, and live sustainably and peacefully with what's left of the violated land?
Or will she use it to seek vengeance on those responsible?
