Translator's Notes:
[1] Alphabetically, among NXX members, Marius' name will be on top. Lu Jing He (Marius) → Mo Yi (Vyn) → Xia Yan (Luke) → Zuo Ran (Artem).
[2] Wei Kang, the butler of the von Hagens. He has been with Marius' family for so long Marius just calls him an uncle - not biologically related but more of an Asian way to address someone that isn't formal.
[3] The Chinese name for the von Hagen's Mansion is 陆公馆, which actually literally translates to 'Grandpa Lu's Pavilion/ Hall', while the 公 behind Marius' grandpa's surname 陆公 signifies the respect people give to his grandpa. This part is hard to translate to English so please bear with me about it. I'll see how the official translation look like and make adjustments if I get to read his card.
[4] In ancient times, if a Chinese family is financially capable and have been living through generations, it's common for their house to have an ancestral hall. This is where you will find memorial tablets (usually made of wood, written with names of the dead) placed in it. Family members, friends or relative can pray here. If the family tree is big, it is not surprising to find many memorial tablets arranged in the order of generation being placed. Offerings like incense, candles, fruits and flowers are common. Memorial tablets are not limited to rich families, but to almost all of the dead, even if there's no ancestral hall, traditional families will still make an altar at home to place the tablets and pray to them in a frequency depending on the family itself (usually on days of death, birthday, or special occasions, or daily basis for my family's case.)
[5] Butler Wei's concern is not incorrect, this has been a traditional value in most traditional Chinese families. You're considered to be part of the family if and only if you're wedded to one of the family members, or for certain families, they consider loyal servants as part of the family too, but that's not always the case.
[6] It is common for the Chinese to burn offerings (usually things like paper hell notes, sometimes also other things).
[7] Not sure if this is a Chinese thing but there are times where we might dream of our ancestors, sometimes it's them delivering a message through dreams, or it can signify something else.
[8] Praying times can be different for each family.
[9] You can consider him low-key implying that he's planning to marry her anyway so it's just a matter of time of her being part of the von Hagens. ;)
[10] This is just me low-key being angry at MHY for releasing Will of the Trees before Xmas card in Global because of Rosa's development of feelings began here.
[Bonus] In China it's very often to associate noodles being the symbolic food for longevity, or for something long-lasting. So it's likely that the offering made for his ancestors are the family's traditions to have a long-lasting business, hoping for blessings from the ancestors for good health or just a general blessing to the von Hagen family :) While many families make food by themselves in the past, it's rare to see people still do it in modern days.
