Cyanide Studio開発の「コール・オブ・クトゥルフ」はクトゥルフ神話TRPGにインスパイアされた探索アドベンチャーゲームです。
背筋の凍るような謎を解き明かしていくにつれ、不可解なコズミック・ホラー、忍び寄る狂気、闇の中に蠢く古き神々…そんなラヴクラフトの世界へと引きずり込まれていきます。
ストーリー
舞台は1924年アメリカ、禁酒法の時代。
主人公である探偵のエドワード・ピアースは、ホーキンス家の悲劇的な死を調査するためにダークウォーター島に行く。
「娘の死の真相を調査して欲しい。何かがおかしいが誰もそれを信じない」
地元の人が何も話してくれない。警察の捜査報告も怪しい。
何かが変だと分かったピアースは調べれば調べるほど恐ろしい真実に近づいていく…
捕鯨業の町だったダークウォーター島は時の流れとともに忘れ去られた。
謎の隠し通路、悪夢のような収容所、違法の酒場、放置された倉庫…建物は残っているが、人はほとんどいない。
残されたのは希望もなく老いた船乗りたちに、行き場のない遺産目当ての親族だけ。よそ者は歓迎されない。
彼が見ているものは現実なのか、アルコール依存と不眠症による幻覚なのか。
この事件は、本当に単なる悲劇的な事故なのか。……それとも。
