Avengers: Endgame is just around the corner and the amount of theories concerning what may happen in the movie is starting to pile up. At the center of many of these theories is none other than Dr. Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch. During the events of Infinity War, the Sorcerer Supreme looked into the future and saw fourteen million, six hundred and five possible futures. Of those outcomes, only one was deemed to be a winner. Talk about stacked odds. But what if there’s more to this plan than meets the eye? When Strange used to the Time Stone to look into the future, his perception of time was likely different than those who were also on Titan. Seeing all those outcomes likely had an effect on Strange and forced some character growth upon the man, who was steadfast in his protection of the Time Stone in his charge. But not long after seeing the future, he willingly gives it up. So what happened? This theory suggests that upon seeing the future, Strange actually learned the lesson given to him from the Ancient One and had to remove himself from the outcome, thus creating a new timeline that he couldn’t see and thus, couldn’t influence. He put the fate of the future out of his hands and learned a lesson on self-sacrifice and humility. Thanos may have won the battle, but the war is far from over as Tony Stark, the man who was spared in exchange for the Time Stone, gets to live on another day and that’s exactly what Dr. Strange wanted.
