In Odoo development, a view is a way to define how data is presented to the user in the UI. Views are written in XML and determine the layout and behavior of forms, lists, kanban boards, and other UI components.

Types of Views in Odoo
Form View (form)

Used to display a single record in a detailed view.

Commonly used for creating or editing records.2. Tree (List) View (tree)

Displays multiple records in a tabular format.

Used for quick browsing and selecting records.

3. Kanban View (kanban)

Displays records as draggable cards.

Useful for visualizing workflows (e.g., sales pipeline, project tasks).

4. Search View (search)

Defines filters and search options for users.


5. Graph View (graph)

Used for visualizing data as bar charts, pie charts, or line graphs.


6. Gantt View (gantt)

Used for scheduling tasks and projects over time.


7. Pivot View (pivot)

Used for analyzing data in a spreadsheet-like manner.

8. Calendar View (calendar)
Displays records based on date fields (e.g., meetings, deadlines).


9. Activity View (activity)

Used for managing scheduled activities (calls, meetings, follow-ups).


10. Map

The map ​ view is used to display records on a map. For example, it is used in the Field Service app to plan an itinerary between different tasks.


11.Cohort

The Cohort  view is used to examine the life cycle of records over a time period. For example, it is used in the Subscriptions app to view the subscriptions’ retention rate.
