Kickstarter Description:

Escape: Sierra Leone is a standalone game developed with CryEngine 3. It's inspired by a mod I made for Crysis called Escape: Paradise. One of the few things both projects share is total freedom to explore an island chain and attempt to escape as best you can. What makes E:SL different from your average open world game is the way it plays. A lot of people have compared the visual style to Far Cry 2/3, because visually it shares a similar style (tropical jungle). However, while the game might look like Crysis or Far Cry, it doesn't play that way. There is no nanosuit to save you from bullets, no magical map with arrows pointing where to go. It's all up to you. Obviously this might scare off some players, and the game is without a doubt for a niche market. I find myself unsatisfied by modern AAA open world games. They're usually not challenging, even on "hard" settings and therefore boring to me. Everything is handed to you and you're usually guided through the game by HUD or map indicators (some games even have a literal breadcrumb line leading you along). This removes the joy I get from discovering things on my own.
