Some lore, some adventure and a blast of EverQuest nostalgia as we journey through and talk about these places from your MMO past! Join me on this trip of nostalgia with EverQuest through the Greater Faydark and Crushbone and ENJOY!
Today let's take a quick nostalgic journey through two connected zones: Greater Faydark or better known as GFay and Crushbone in EverQuest the classic MMORPG that started it all! EverQuest was released in 1999 and laid the groundwork for the MMO genre as a whole introducing thousands of adventurers to the world of Norrath in full 3D which was quite the accomplishment of it's time.
Greater Faydark was where wood elves half elves and high elves would see their adventures begin. Kelethin looming in the forest clearing, high above the branches of the surrounding forests of Faydark was also known for many deaths as new players would plumet off the sides to their deaths leading to piles of bodies at the bottom. Kelethin was also a unique starting city because it doesn't require a zone into, it's out in the Greater Faydark zone itself so it can be entered and exited with ease.
The forests are known for being dark are full of nasty creatures and beware, the further from the safety of Kelethin that you travel young adventurer, the more danger you will encounter. The most dangerous in the zone being the wandering orcs coming from a stronghold to the north but are known to travel all over the Greater Faydark and cause many a new adventurer's death as they will attack on sight.
The Greater Faydark was once home to pixies and drakes and although you might spot some of them, the elves have claimed this area, and right in the center, one can take a lift up to see the forests from atop Kelethin. Kelethin is named after an elf that negotiated the treaty with the treants of Greater Faydark and now great allies to the elves. Here you will find an intricate twisting of bridges, ropes and tree houses nestled on wooden platforms, and as stated before, please watch your step as you travel throughout this unique city.
Known for having champions in the form of rangers, bards and druids, the city of Kelethin is well protected from the orcs to the north. When out traveling beyond Kelethin however, beware the area is known for guards that take their time in helping out those that are attacked nearby.
Not far from the forest lies the Crushbone orc stronghold to the north, a favorite low level dungeon for many, with monsters ranging from level 5 to 20 inside. This place probably houses many grouping memories for old school EverQuest players as it was a great place to acquire some plat and experience. Whether that was camping on the hill, the wall, the throne room or slaver pit, groups would be here pulling mobs 24-7 back in the day.
Crushbone is home to the Clan Crushbone a warmongering orc clan, and is the cause of much trouble for all of Faydwer. It is full of the slaves captured and put to work by the Crushbones, and if one truely seeks adventure, head to the northeast for the home of Emperor Crush. Here you will find a plethora of orchish guards and Emperor Crush himself.
And this my friends was a look back at two classic zones from one of the greatest MMOs of all time, EverQuest. It may have been surpassed in graphics, in UI, amongst other things, but the places we used to go, the memories we shared we will carry with us always. If you enjoyed this overview of these two zones, please let me know, I would love to continue showing off zones in EverQuest, let me know some ideas of where you would like to see next in the comments down below and your memories of the areas and I very well might share them in the next video! And of course, if you had fun looking back at these places, drop me a like to help with the YouTube algorithm, and of course, please subscribe for more MMO and RPG content cause that's what we do here, and until next time my friends, God Bless and happy gaming!
