Everyone is WRONG about the S25 Edge! #shorts
Five months after its announcement, the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung's first "slim" smartphone, is finally here. A small technological feat that may attract customers to stores, but leaves us very skeptical about the brand's strategy.
A battery of only 3,900 mAh, a dual camera module without a telephoto lens, and a price similar to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which can be found around €1,000 at some retailers: here is the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung's new technological flagship, announced on May 12, 2025, after an initial teaser in January.
With the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung is embarking on a revolution in the smartphone market: the race for thinness. Like others, the Korean manufacturer believes it is now possible to offer ultra-portable devices without compromising on performance. But the price of the Galaxy S25 Edge is already a huge deterrent to purchase: how can you sell the S25 Ultra, the most comprehensive smartphone on the market, at the same price as this ultra-thin device with several concessions? At €1,249 (256 GB) or €1,369 (512 GB), the S25 Edge rivals the most expensive devices on the market.
The problem is its positioning: anyone with €1,200 or more to invest should rush to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, a larger smartphone with a powerful camera, equipped with a stylus, and capable of lasting two days on a single charge. We're eager to review the Galaxy S25 Edge on Numerama, but we already know that slimness isn't more important than battery life or photo quality.
The S25 Edge would be a much more attractive compromise at €800 or €900 if it were presented as an alternative to the classic S25.
