Evolution VR (If Spore evolved a VR part) - VR Gameplay HTC Vive
I dive into the deep end of the gene pool and the result one ugly *** Cerbe-fish.
This video would have been out sooner but I had a fun little Copyright dispute on 2 minutes of background music. D:
I bring that up less to vent about unwarranted copyright claims... and more to say that this video was recorded 30 days ago. I don't believe there were any significant updates to the game in that time.
There was a small performance update on the 18th which was after this was recorded so some of my comments about performance might have been addressed. Other than that I don't see any other updates on Steam. On Dec 9th there was an announcement for the final release of the game and what they plan to have in:
- New levels and scenes
There will be 12 different levels for the release with 2 more scenes (4 in total).
- New body parts with skills!
Now you can use your creature's skills which come with special body parts to bring more fun to the fights!
For example, you can dash away from large enemies or towards small ones; or you can fire a poisonous bait to lure a group of enemies and make them poisoned.
There will be at least 5 different skills from new body parts, all of which are triggered at your will.
- New enemies with special skills
Instead of enemies that behave alike, we'll introduce new creatures with special skills. e.g. they may turn invisible and attack you by suprise, or explode when dying. And there are more for you to find out.
- Functional scene objects
Like jellyfish or special underwater plants. Be careful when you wander around them!
- Optimizations
Various kinds of optimizations, including performance opt, effects opt, UI and interaction opt, etc.
- Miscellaneous
Support for MR video recording and option for game data reset. (thanks to your suggestions from the forum)
Right now Evolution VR is a free title and is worth taking a spin through if you haven't already. Here's to hoping they're still working on it.
Not sure what the plan is for monetization. Will be interesting to see if the game remains free or if the devs decide they need to eat too...
