Evolving My Kadabra in Pokémon Yellow Through the BGB Emulator
9As you may know there are some Pokémon in the old Pokémon Game Boy games such as Pokémon Yellow where the only way they would evolve was through trading with another player. Kabadra was one such Pokémon where the only way to evolve him into an Alakazam was through trading but because this was on emulator and not an actual Game Boy, the trading could be tricky but still possible. In this video I demonstrate how I was able to trade Kadabra to myself using the old bgb emulator so my Kadabra would evolve into an Alakazam.
To start the trading process you had to follow these steps:
1. You must make a separate folder that contain a copy of both the bgb emulator, the Pokémon Yellow rom, and your Pokémon Yellow save file.
2. You must open both the bgb emulator from its original location on your PC and the copy location.
3. Once open, go to the Pokémon Center in both game and to the counter on the very right side where a female receptionist is present.
4. From there right click on the emulator to open a drop-down menu, from the drop down menu go to "Link" and then choose "Listen."
5. For the other emulator do the same but this time instead of choosing "Listen", choose "Connect" instead.
6. Then talk to the female receptionist, if you noticed that she say "Please Apply Here" then you know it works.
7. Have both player on both emulator apply to the connection.
8. The female receptionist will let you save your game on both side before the trade could start.
9. After saving a menu with 3 locations will appeared: Trade Center, Colosseum, and Colusseum2. Just choose Trade Center on both side to enter the trading area.
10. From there it's just you switching between one player to the next and choosing which Pokémon you want to trade with which.
11. Once you chosen the Pokémon Yellow you want to trade to yourself, pick the Trade option on both emulator and the trading sequence will began.
12. After trading just press START on both side and choose to Reset game. Once you restart again the Pokémon you got from the trade should be on your game file now in the Pokémon option of the Pause menu.
I use this method to evolve both Kadabra and Machoke as both Pokémon are two of few that required this method of trading in able to evolve.
