What’s up guys, Voan here today. For those of you who want to patch and play the just released color hack of Super Mario Land 2 DX: 6 Golden Coins whether for PC, GBA, and Game Boy Player, this tutorial will show you a step-by-step process of what you need to do. Now doing this does required four things you need on your PC:

• The Super Mario Land 2 DX hack IPS file (this needs to be patch to the original Super Mario Land 2 v1.0 rom)

• The Lunar IPS Application (you’ll need this in able to patch the hack to the rom)

• Goomba Front Application (you’ll need this to flash it to a microSD Card)

• The original Super Mario Land 2.gb rom (make sure it’s v1.0, any later version will not work)

Other additional items you may need for this process also includes these:

• A PC with VisualBoyAdvance or BGB emulator install

• A Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Micro, or GBA SP handheld

• A SuperCard flash cartridge with Kingston microSD Card adapter

• A regular microSD Card adapter

• A 2GB PNY microSD Card (while you can use any 2GB microSD Card to do this, keep in mind that only the PNY microSD card will work with the Game Boy Player)

• A Game Boy Player with boot disc for GameCube (if you want to play it on the big screen)

First download all the necessary file applications, here are the links to each one (except the rom):

To download the Super Mario Land 2 DX patch file, go here: (http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3784)

To download the Lunar IPS, go here: (https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/240)

To download the Goomba application, go here (http://www.dwedit.org/gba/goombacolor.php)

As for the original Super Mario Land 2 rom, that you will need to find that on your own.

Secondly, unzip and open the Lunar IPS. You get a pop-up with 3 options: Apply IPS Patch, Create IP Patch, and About LIPS.

Click on Apply IPS Patch.

On the first pop-up window, browse for the Super Mario Land 2 DX patch on your computer and hit Open. Then on the second pop-up window, browse for the Super Mario Land 2 v1.0.gb rom and hit Open. If successful, a message will pop-up telling you that the file has been patched.

Next delete the Super Mario Land 2 DX IPS file, if you want you can rename your newly patched rom file to anything you want (I just rename it Super Mario Land 2 DX.gb) then drag it for play on a Game Boy emulator such as BGB or VisualBoyAdvance.

To play your newly patched Super Mario Land 2 DX on your GBA system, you will need to open the Goomba Front application. Unzip the Goomba folder and access the Goombafront.exe app.

On the Goomba Front app, you’ll see three browsing options: Select Emulator File, Select Output File, and Add GB/GBC Games. First click on Select Emulator File, it’ll take you to the Goomba folder, from there choose Goomba.gba and hit Open. Next go to Select Output File, you can choose to output the file anywhere on your computer but for this process I decided to just output it in the Goomba folder. You can name the output file to anything you like but best to name it something related to Super Mario Land 2 DX. I just name it Super Mario Land 2 DX. After that go to Add GB/GBC Games and browse to find your already patched Super Mario Land 2 DX.gb rom file.

Once you found it, the file should appear on the left column of the Goomba Front app. Next click on the rom file to highlight it and hit the Add button. The file should be added to the right column of the Goomba Front app. From there, hit the Compile button on the lower middle section of the Goomba Front app. If successful, the newly patch rom file should be flash to wherever location you output the file to in the Select Output File section. So if you name your Super Mario Land 2 DX.gb rom and output it to the Goomba folder, it should appeared there as a Super Mario Land 2 DX.gba file. Now drag or copy that flashed Super Mario Land 2 DX.gba file to the root directory of your 2GB PNY microSD Card.

Next take the 2GB PYN microSD out of your PC and the SD Card adapter and re-insert it to the Kingston microSD Card adapter which then eventually goes into the Super Card flash cartridge. After that, insert the Super Card to either a GBA or a Game Boy Player and turn the power on. At the Super Card root directory menu, search for your Super Mario Land 2 DX.gba file and press START.

Now you can play Super Mario Land 2 DX on your GBA, GBA SP, Game Boy Micro, or Game Boy Player.

Enjoy!!!
