"The Gravity Well Stations were built to facilitate the transport of goods from the planet surface to orbit, by bypassing the violent atmosphere that surrounded the planet. At a costly fee, any ship could navigate the beams down to the planet in a safe manner. Those who chose not to comply with the G.W.S price would risk a rogue entrance to the planet via the atmosphere, risking their very lives (and more often than not, loosing them)."
