Experimentation - For 96 Strings
This is a new piece of music I composed for 96 strings. It is to be played with 24 violins, 24 violas, 24 cellos, 24 contrabasses.
What I did was that I took all the key signatures in music (Cb Major, Gb Major, Db, Major, Ab Major, Eb Major, Bb Major, F Major, C Major, G Major, D Major, A Major, E Major, B Major, F# Major, C# Major) and had each section play a chord. Each section has six players and when there is a chord (Three Notes Played to Make That Specific Chord) two players play each note in that chord.
Violin 1: Cb Major
Violin 2: Gb Major
Violin 3:Db Major
Violin 4: Ab Major
Viola 1: Eb Major
Viola 2: Bb Major
Viola 3: F Major
Viola 4: C Major (Middle C)
Cello 1: C Major (C3 - One Octave Below Middle C)
Cello 2: G Major
Cello 3: D Major
Cello 4: A Major
Contrabass 1: E Major
Contrabass 2: B Major
Contrabass 3: F# Major
Contrabass 4: C# Major
I then make variations to it all in different ways. This is possibility part one on this type of experimentation with chords and cluster tones I will be doing.
