F-35 fighter jets have flown their first operational sorties from aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.

The Lightning aircraft are carrying out combat missions from the Carrier Strike Group 21 in the fight against the remnants of so-called Islamic State.

There are currently 18 UK and US F-35B jets on board HMS Queen Elizabeth, the largest total to sail at sea.
