in japan, this game had support for e-Reader and had 20 tracks released in that format. since e-Reader support was removed in the western releases, these tracks remained JP exclusive and e-Reader exclusive for more than 15 years.

thanks to GuyPerfect's efforts in rom hacking and everyone involved in tracking down all the cards, it's now possible to have this content in all versions of the game using a patch to patch your existing ROM of the game. more at: https://www.pressthebuttons.com/2020/09/lost-f-zero-gp-legend-e-reader-tracks-recovered.html

i went a bit further and made a Wii U VC channel using this patched rom to play the tracks on Wii U to test out if it worked properly here and also it was the most convenient way to play for me (i don't have a flashcart for GBA games). i also used my own savefile imported from the GBA cart and converted to work on Wii U VC to have everything else unlocked even though that's not necessary to play these tracks.
