Samuel had always felt that Ian was a strange sort of fellow. He had a habit of talking to himself and staring into the distance as if nobody was there. Ian existed parallel to Samuel reaching the same ranks around the same time as Sam. Only recently had Ian moved up in Tumbleweed's strange government to becoming Sam's boss. Sam was perfectly happy being an ambassador for the town and had not challenged his boss because of that.

Sam arrived in the Vault City's outskirt in the evening, he was to report back to Vault City to his boss once he made contact with Redding and attempted to open a trade route. His quest was a failure so now he had to carefully speak to his boss who as mentioned before had a very light grip on reality.

Sam approached his boss quietly not announcing his presence, he knew to take a measured approach when it came to his temperamental and insane boss. Ian was sitting at the bar and drinking a probably stolen bottle of whiskey, he turned over his shoulder and growled words at his employee.
"Well? How did it go?"
Sam scratched his frizzy brown hair and shifted from foot to foot
"well...they weren't interested in trading with a small outsider town when they're already getting pressured by nearby powers that are far more powerful and important than we are."
Ian took another long drink before croaking out another sentence
"It doesn't matter I have another task for you Snake"
Sam cringed at the way he growled the word "snake"
"alright what do you got"
"We've found a new settlement to the east and I want you to go may contact"
"alright how far east?"
Ian pulled a piece of paper from his jacket and placed it on the bar before Sam picked it up
"Christ Ian, that's farther than where I just came from, I-"
Ian abruptly stood up and placed his hand on his weapon
"Shut the hell up Snake, you're gonna do it or your gonna duel me right here and now"
with any other villager Sam would risk it however Ian wielded a 10mm smg at the moment and Sam only had 3 bullets left for his .44.
"ok boss, just how do you expect me to get all the way to the Pacific"
"I don't care Snake, you're gonna do it and get paid or I'm gonna kill ya and get paid more, your choice"
Sam sighed and walked out of the bar, staring at his feet until he exited the gates of Vault City's outskirts. There he saw the large black armored figure climb into the car known to him as Highway Star and drive to the north. Sam figured that she's likely not gonna cross the border so he might as well follow and ask for a ride.
