Things to do first in Fallout 4 - Go Home

In addition to getting you the inside scoop on Shawn from Codsworth, going home gets you access to a Grognak comic power-up on the kitchen counter and a You"re Special stat boost underneath the changing table in Shaun’s bedroom. Across the street you’ll find Crafting stations (where you can make new things and store your stuff).

A Terminal in the Hawthorne residence describes his drug dealing, and the also contains a Novice locked booby-trapped safe, a 10mm Pistol in the shower, and a Chemical Station out back.
The Able House next to the Hawthorne house has a locked suitcase.
Your old house has a Grognak the Barbarian on the kitchen counter, and a You’re SPECIAL book next to Shaun’s crib.
The house next to your old house has a Novice locked safe next to the bed.
The barricaded intact house at the end of the street has a Novice locked safe under a baby’s crib, and a skeleton holding a Pipe Gun.
The house by the front of the street with the Cooking Station has an Advanced locked safe under a dresser in the room with the Captain Cosmos poster.
An intact blue house near the end of the cul-de-sac has a Root Cellar behind it, containing a powered safehouse with tons of supplies, several gold bars, a bed and an Advanced locked safe
