Hey everyone, Eezore here and in this video I will be explaining workshops in detail for the game Fallout 76. These are fun little side things to occupy your time and ammo, and can really help you out if your looking for more resources, which let's face it you are.
First things first, you need to find them, check out the time stamp below for the time where I start to show you where they are all located. Once you find one, you need to clear the area of mobs. They can range from a few to several, and the levels/types are all random as well. Then you need to spend some caps to actually claim the outpost.
8:41 map locations
You can build structures around the outpost once you control it. You get some recipes to start as well as some materials. The big thing is the resource collectors, they need to be placed onto that resource type, and they need to be powered. But once both of those criteria have been met, they pump out continuous resources until they are damaged beyond repair, or you stop them.
How do they get damaged? About once per hour you have to defend your outpost from waves of mobs attacking it. It can range from Mole rats, dogs, mutants, scorched, mole miners, or really anything. You have to fight off 1 to 4 waves of enemies, and once you do you can go about your business. You do get really nice loot from this, so make sure to run back and defend it when necessary.
Now there are a few outposts that are better than others, and it's primary due to what they can build. For example, there is a food processing plant that can make Process Food at a rate of 25 per hour. That's food that doesn't spoil, and can be a great way to stock up. There is an ammo plant that makes ammo, a nuclear dumping group that has radioactive materials, and even some that have water purifiers! The big thing is to see what you need and get that outpost early so as to be able to get it's bonuses often. Oh, and you can fast travel to any outpost you own for free.
There is a PvP aspect to these as well, since you can be attacked as soon as you start occupying an outpost. Just be cautious with any players in the area, and you'll be fine. Oh, and it's more expensive as well as time consuming to take over an outpost owned by another player.
As for the best locations, I'll list my top 3:
1. Ammunition depo
2. Charleston landfill
3. George's Junkyard
It's all about what you need at certain times, and Ammo is always needed! I like the triple junk pile of the landfill, and the junkyard has one of each crafting station and power armor station already at it.
But that's just me, what's your opinion of the best outpost? Why? Do you like them or is it something that still needs to be worked out? Let me know in the comments below, and as always, thanks for watching!
