Transcript:

The Fallout Logo featuring Vault Boy closing one eye and holding his thumb out isn't just a cheeky thumbs up, but rather a method for evaluating a nuclear explosion. If you see a mushroom cloud in the distance that appears larger than your thumb, you are in the radiation zone and need to evacuate ASAP. Thanks, Vault Boy!

The Fat Man Tactical Nuclear Catapult is actually based on a weapon developed in the 1950's, the M-388 Davy Crockett Tactical Nuclear Recoilless Rifle, which was wildly inaccurate and had no abort function. However, the ding you hear when you fire the Fat Man isn’t inspired by the Davy Crockett -- that’s the lunch bell at the Bethesda offices.

Dogmeat, the companion in Fallout 3, is a direct descendent of the canine companion in Fallout 1, which means the Dogmeat family traveled from California to Washington D.C. over the 115 year period.

According to game files pulled from Fallout 4, Codsworth can say 924 names, which includes everything from Furiosa to Assface. Codsworth can also recite the names of your favorite private parts, including their plural forms!

On the Ellen Degeneres Show, actor Matthew Perry confessed he loved Fallout 3 so much, he'd injured his hand playing it. He gave Ellen an Xbox 360 and signed a copy of the game to auction for charity. Bethesda and Obsidian were so pleased they cast Perry to voice Benny in Fallout: New Vegas. A follow up on Reddit found that the signed game was later purchased for $5 on a Facebook swap meet group.
