0My telling of soviet penal battalions conducting recon in force- forced to wage war, using rudimentary tactics. A Prison Battalion , backed up by 4 Su 76 mm SPG and 1 152mmspg, off map mortar fire available for the attackers.
German Panzer Grenadier maybe SS-reinforced company holds the hill- reversed slope AI no less had no idea what my pixel prisoners had in store for them at the top of that rise.
It was a long walk, the map is huge- played it a couple of times trying flanking maneuvers - you really have to time it up perfectly - these prisoners have no comms. , max range spg's until they get ranged by the Panthers then move up, as fast as you can and hope all infantry parties are ready to go.
Definitely tried to use military doctrine-2 forward units one back also fire and movement- seems the AI was having none of it -
Theatre of War is a very fun game - as complex as Call to Arms but does not have officer move functions you have to group your groups to get a platoon moving though you do get formations.
Lots of stuff here, one step removed from men of war inventory, but definitely a group mass fire orchestration effort kind of game if you get what I am saying, yes you can run out of ammunition and the battles seem to work with existing ammo load so no resupply in game - time limits can be set and are defaults though changeable in the campaign and scenarios.
The game editor you get is simple and easy to use and create battalion battles with many nations including Poland along side the major powers.
Cheap in price and runs on a potato and has 4 flavors and they got better each time. Still some worry about crashes- what I have found is just run the right compatibility in properties, disable the scaling and voila your potato can run this.

Playing these games is fun and making the movie is just a blast, take the story as if somebody told you what happened , and in your mind you imagine everything that is being told and spoken about that occurred on that specific day. The idea was to show how we imagine what it must be like when we are told stories and how we stitch the narrative togther, pixel actors and pixel sets right - just having some fun with this medium, please comment would love to know your thoughts
