Fandom vs Adaptation & Separating the Art from the Artist - Will Smith, Ezra Miller, etc.
Rob & Jon discuss the current (and historical) state of "fandom" and how we (yes we, all of us do it) criticize film adaptations for making changes to the source material, despite the source material often being iterative of itself. Comic books, for instance, are constantly adapting, iterating & changing fundamental aspects of characters all the time - so why does fandom seem to be more critical towards the film industry when they do the same?
The conversation then develops into the age old question of "can you separate the art from the artist?" - we believe it's subjective [as art in it of itself is subjective] & that everyone is going to have their own interpretations, reactions or "lines in the sand" as it relates to each "artist" and the respective "issue(s)" associated with them.
