FarCry 4 is not a bad game by itself but it feels more like an expansion pack to FarCry 3, than a completely new title.

In FC4 you play as a young guy named Ajay, which goes back to his native land of Kyrat (in the Himalaya), to honor his dead mother but, as soon as he arrives, the not very loved Pagan Min, self proclaimed king of the land, kidnaps him and only thanks to the Golden Path, a group of rebels, he escapes to fight the evil king's army and free the country.

So the gameplay is very, very similar to FC3: you have an even bigger arsenal of upgradable and customizable weapons, main and side missions, outposts to liberate (stealthy or Rambo style) and radio towers to climb in order to have a "better" view of nearby area. Again, everything you do will grant you cash and\or experience points, which you can use to improve Ajay and unlock new abilities; crafting is back and it works just like in FC3, there are more animals and plants this time.

Thankfully there are also a bunch of new features like the grappling hook, a gyrocopter, the ability to ride elephants, an arena and a more "choose your own path" kind of story as in Kyrat, the Golden Path is guided by two leaders: Sabal (a guy with very hard traditional values) and Amita (a girl which argues for forced progress), both have very different ideas on how to free, and rule, Kyrat and you will often have to choose who to listen to when playing some main missions which will then lead that leader to gain power and the other one to be discredited.
Another new thing is the karma system, you get karma points by helping the local against wild animals and Pagan's army, you then use these points to call for support and get discounts at the stores.

In conclusion: FC4 is not a big leap ahead from FC3, the new environment looks great with all the religious things here and there but beside a few main missions and a drug induced 4 parts side mission in the mythical Shangri-La, everywhere looks sadly the same... and the story is also nothing special, with the two leader of the Golden Path equally unlikable (with their extreme views) and the evil Pagan Min which is rarely seen (but still better then both "good guys") as he's far from FC3's Vaas, and everything else just feels like a small update to what was already available in FC3.

So, do I suggest this game? Well yes and no, I personally prefer much more the tropical setting of FC3 and its story but on a strictly gameplay level: FC4 has everything FC3 has but bumped up a notch. So, if you have already played FC3, pick up FC4 only if you want more of the same.
