Written Review:
Hey Everyone Blankakong here! Today I'll be doing a retro review on Fatal Frame for
PS2. This game was developed and published by Temco and was released in 2002 and is available
on PlayStation 2, original Xbox and as a PS2 classic on PlayStation 3.

So I've played the PS2 classic port of Fatal Frame on my PS3 Slim, and I completed
the base story of the game in about 11 hours. Fatal Frame is considered to be one of the
scariest games on PS2 and I can see why, but in 2022 it leans on the silly side of things
and shows its age. The game in my opinion is well designed in terms of puzzle design, puzzle placement, how information and story is fed to the player and the game surprisingly has a diverse cast of ghostly villain's to vanquish with your sick magic camera. The game is split into 4 chapters
which resets the entire map allowing for exploration of the same areas for items, documents
and photos that provide more story and lore, and of course introductions to new ghost enemies.

Now, while I can agree that Fatal Frame is a PS2 Horror classic and a well designed
PS2 game in general it was not without its faults. The player character is extremely slow and
sometimes unresponsive, this is especially brutal in backtracking or exploring when lost,
or in boss encounters in tight corridors/rooms. The hitboxes and collision direction is
criminally bad in certain parts of the game. And I challenge anybody to find a character that
ascends or descends a ladder slower than the player character in this game! PTSD activated.
All in all, I can say that Fatal Frame is worth a look back and can be a great time if you're
a horror game fan but be warned that the controls and hitboxes are a little rough. I'd rate
Fatal Frame in the year 2022 as a 6/10.

I hope this review was useful and if you decide to give Fatal Frame a go be ready to
move and function like the small, fragile, and clumsy Japanese school you are. Like the
video and leave a comment if you have anything to add about Fatal Frame. Thanks and I'll catch
ya in the next one!
