Hello and welcome to the final installment in my Playstation 2 Fatal Frame / Project Zero trilogy retrospective.

Let’s head back to 2005, the year of Resident Evil 4 and the impending arrival of a new console generation and explore Tecomo’s last entry in their classic survival horror series. After two powerful entries to the genre the team headed by Makoto Shibata and Keisukei Kikuchi finally made all the pieces click. This game has one of the best stories and easily the best version of the Camera Obscura combat that I’ve played up to this point.
On top of that it also has some wonderful unique storytelling devices that really make this a one of a kind experience and while I’m very late to this party I’m glad that I came and stuck around till the end.

So let’s turn the lights down low and prepare to photograph some ghosts as we explore the history and development of this horror classic before we take a deep dive into its characters, story and gameplay mechanics and maybe just for once we can find the one thing that we’ve been denied in all these games. A happy ending.
