Faxanadu pronunciation guide
22Faxanadu (NES) follows an elf traveling through the Norse World Tree to free the maybe-not-so-evil "Dwarfs" from the thrall of a meteorite that is poisoning the realm and their entire race by turning them into horrible monsters. As the hero, you must collect the armor and weapons to destroy the creature guarding the meteorite and restore peace to the Elven kingdom.
Created as a side-story to the Xanadu games for PC and MSX, Faxanadu creates a side-scrolling playstyle that is reminiscent of Zelda II or Battle of Olympus, but arguably came first — or at least was developed contemporaneously, although it's arguable that Nintendo developers could have been fans of the Xanadu series.
