What place would dare screen a film that has the audacity to be called Fucktoys? At the annual South by Southwest Festival in Austin, the boldest and most daring movies are embraced. A new film that aspires to be the next midnight movie classic, Fucktoys is a campy comedy-drama written and directed by Annapurna Sriram (Feral) about a young woman seeking to break a curse by raising $1,000 for psychics in a pre-millennium alternate universe. No plot description will prepare you for the bizarre but touching eccentricities of the film.

While celebrating their World Premiere at the festival, Sriram and co-stars Sadie Scott (Spoiler Alert), François Arnaud (The Borgias), and Brandon Flynn (Hellraiser) stopped by the Collider Media Studio at the Cinema Center to chat with Steve Weintraub about Fucktoys and the power of its title, personal expression when developing characters, how Jesse Eisenberg supported Sriram's vision, and how the movie challenges the stigma of sex work.
