FE Hack Reviews: Midnight Sun Chapter 4 - Oh Right, This is FE8 Still
Am I missing something here, Alfred, or is the writing in this chapter truly kind of... confusing in a bad way?
Let's look at the logical fallacies here (CHAPTER SPOILERS)
1) The Demon King questions why Faratrass doesn't accept that she's bringing harm to her friends when she accepted harming her own soldiers. This would be a good point if NOT for the fact that the soldiers were trying to kill her, and she was merely defending herself. There was nothing that could be done about that situation, so what he says doesn't hold any water. It especially bothers me that this scene feels like it was agreeing with the Demon King: Faratrass makes no counter response, and simply panics and says he's lying.
2) Why is it that Faratrass stabs herself and reseals the Demon King, but then he suddenly gains control of Faratrass if you stick around for too long after? Didn't she seal him? How come she's able to hold out another day or so if we just talk to her? You could assume her friends give her strength or something like that, but the sealing cutscene made it pretty clear that Faratrass regained control of herself. There's a great sense of inconsistency here.
I wasn't able to find more glaring problems, but as I was playing the chapter, I had this constant nagging feeling that I didn't understand the situation fully, and looking back, I think I see why.
It wouldn't be difficult to fix these things thankfully.
