FE7if is a hack for the japanese version of Blazing Sword, Rekka no Ken. Enemy difficulty is boosted, items/weapons/characters rebalanced, new music, and even new characters taking the place of some old ones.

If you wish to try out the hack, the latest version can be located here: http://www.uploadable.ch/file/ACDETeQcA9Dg

The wiki for the hack is located here: http://seesaawiki.jp/fe7if/

Do a search on Google for the ROM (Japanese version of course!).

Oh hey, there's the dragon that needs to die and...wait why are there a lot of enemies on the map?

Yeah, FE7if isn't just going to make the dragon your final boss. You get to do more or less what you did last time, but all at once now. This does makes it a challenge at least.

First though, you may notice a new unit among the army. Nergal was apparently either given a stern talking to or decided to say screw it and join the good side because why not.

Sadly, his godlike Ereshkigal got downgraded to a more typical endgame weapon with its stat boosts. Still has the 1-3 range capability though. While Nergal probably isn't going to double as many enemies here as you'd like, he's a hell of a lot more combat viable than Athos. Considering he has 80 hp and 35 effective defense & resistance, Nergal will not be easily toppled.

On top of all that...remember that sword he had earlier? He still has it and it's for Alice. Basically, she somehow manages to get even more broken. Higher stats all around, crazy stat boosts (+20 hp, +10 str, +20 skl, +10 spd, +20 luk, +15 def, +15 res). I'm not entirely sure the FE7if authors were caring about balance at this point, but you don't see me complaining, heh.

Anyways, there's one very important thing to mention...the dragon WILL move if anyone is in its attack range (1-3 for that breath it uses). You'll need everyone to dive south so you can handle the army coming in from the north.

To the south, there's enemies too. First you'll run into a Brendan/Lloyd/Linus combo, then a half dozen generic enemies further back. The Falcoknight poses the biggest risk because she can fly besides the stairs and not suffer a movement penalty and try to take out your squishy units, thusly she needs to die on the 2nd turn at least.

Once you can secure the south side of the map, this gets much more manageable. Nothing more than your typical walling off and slowly chipping away at the northern forces.

More next time!
