FE7if is a hack for the japanese version of Blazing Sword, Rekka no Ken. Enemy difficulty is boosted, items/weapons/characters rebalanced, new music, and even new characters taking the place of some old ones.

If you wish to try out the hack, the latest version can be located here: http://www.uploadable.ch/file/ACDETeQcA9Dg

Do a search on Google for the ROM (Japanese version of course!).

Finally, after a long and painful journey, the quest reaches its conclusion in the final chapter.

Even before the map begins, a new unit joins the party, Athos.

Athos is clearly not meant for offensive duties. Not having any supports plus a terrible speed cap & hp will do that despite having his own personal tome with +5 all stats and 1-3 range.

What he is going to be doing though is taking over primary healing duties. He's basically the man you want spamming that Fortify staff since 35 effective magic means he's healing a huge area for 45 hp, more if you get Nils to grant him another turn.

I did give Athos that infinite light tome I picked up back in chapter 30 simply because it gave him 10 more hp...if that would even help him, heh.

Most importantly though, Athos is packing four ultimate weapons for characters. The light tome goes to Limstella, the axe to Hector, and the sword to Eliwood.

That leaves Lyn. If you recall, she got a heavy as hell sword for her ultimate in vanilla. Athos came much more prepared by having a very nice bow for her that has 2-3 range. Couple that with Karel's sword and she'll be able to handle whatever threat she wants in the way she desires.

That being said, after showing off everyone's stats, we can get started.

First thing to mention...bring a couple Restore staves to save yourself some frustration later.

The main goal of this chapter is to kill all the enemies in the first half of it. Do so and the giant door to the north opens, allowing you to get to Nergal.

You'll likely notice a couple small open alcoves. These contain some rather threatening enemies that pack +5 all stats weaponry almost certainly. Some past bosses greet you too, but they're no different really than the mooks in the same room except for perhaps a different +5 all stats weapon.

Starting out, the southeast and northwest alcoves are open. Uhai is in the southeast, Kenneth (the other potential boss of Pale Flower of Darkness) in the northwest.

Every two turns from the start, two more alcoves open up. The next pair that opens up are the central two. A Warrior & Jerme are in the west while a General & Darin are in the east.

The final two alcoves are the nastiest. In the southwest is Ursula & Sonia who I believe have a support going for extra stats. Sonia may be using a heavy as hell tome, but it has raw power behind it.

Still, that does not compare to the threats in the northeast. In there is Brendan and the Reed brothers, Lloyd & Linus. They have a support triangle running. I hope you like seeing a Lloyd with a base crit in the 70s.

Despite all this, I don't find the first half of the final chapter as bad as I was expecting. Since everyone has capped speed at a minimum and capped or near capped stats everywhere else, I just need to divide my army to handle the normal units up the center and deal with the enemies in the alcoves at the same time.

The lower two alcoves are handled pretty easily by Milia, Hawkeye, Ash, and Sistina. East is handled by Limstella, Nino, and Elina. West is all for Alice to handle in her own.

More next time!
