The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) has announced the progress of the investigation into the tragic case of Fernandito, a child found dead on August 4 at a home in the El Pino communal land in the municipality of La Paz. Those allegedly responsible for his death have been arrested and face prosecution for kidnapping and homicide, with a possible sentence of up to 160 years in prison.

Furthermore, the Attorney General's Office is investigating the possible responsibility of public officials who ignored the complaint filed by the child's mother, causing an institutional delay. As a result, disciplinary and criminal measures have been taken against the officials involved.

Fernandito's death, caused by a head injury, highlights a growing concern about child violence in Mexico. In recent months, thousands of child deaths due to violence have been reported, prompting an urgent call for action and reflection on the safety and well-being of children in the country.
