Big Bridge is where it WOULD normally get rough, IF you weren't prepared or were underleveled. It is possible to avoid ALL encounters here except for the first and with Gilgamesh if you followed a specific path. Gilgamesh himself isn't that hard really until he casts a crapload of spells on himself and starts to use Jump. It's recommended to have your White Mage use Safe/Protes on your party while the others hack away at him. I'd also have a Time Mage to use Haste as well to help counter Gilgamesh. Then again, it's all up to preference.



The path to Lugor CAN be tough too, depending if you run into Kuzer or not. He has a LOT of HP for a normal enemy, and also uses ???? often, which is nasty later in the fight. It's best to avoid him altogether.
