Catch up on all the news for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Remake before release! This ground-breaking RPG Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is about to hit and we're here to share all the news and information on EVERYTHING we know about it so far!
February 29th is going to be a big day for Final Fantasy 7 fans as the saga continues with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Cloud, Tifa and Aerith's adventure continues into the open world as they leave Midgar and plunge deeper into the plot. Today, I want to talk about all the news surrounding Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, from the new content about to launch for the demo along with the information about all the additional content we are going to be getting upon full release.
So first off, the demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is getting a major update on February 21st : It's getting a graphical upgrade for the Performance Mode : which has Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth running at a smooth 60 frames per second, and is the undoubtably most popular option.
But more exciting is the release of the Junon region playable open world area where we will get a taste of how Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is going to play during these more open world sections of the game : Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is set to be a massive game with much more content than FInal Fantasy 7 Remake : And for those not in the know, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was part 1 of a trilogy that is expanding and fleshing out the story and characters from the original Final Fantasy 7 experience that launched back in 1997.
With Rebirth, the devs have promised more fleshed out side quests that can be completed whenever you choose : one of my complaints about Final Fantasy 7 Remake was that the side quests just felt like extra chores to get cool rewards, and didn't really add too much to the story, although it did add some value, it was the actual go kill some of these things and turn it in nature of the quests that made it lose a bit of it's charm.
It looks like Square is addressing this for FInal Fantasy 7 Rebirth and we'll be getting much better quests and much more of them scattered around all of the regions : and since there are many open world areas in Rebirth, we'll need a reason to go off the beaten path and explore the areas and I'm hoping the new side quests will serve that purpose along with hopefully fleshing out character story arcs and give the world more meaning and purpose.
We know for sure that the Golden Saucer is making a huge comeback with tons of mini-games including 3-D battler, Chocobo Racing, G-Bike and much more, and that there is a card game included in Rebirth that will give us something extra to do with NPCs throughout the game.
For many of us, the best part of this trilogy of Remakes is that we are getting to know characters from this beloved Final Fantasy so much more intimately and learning more about them and what drives them forward, and Rebirth is promising more of that as well, and that goes beyond just the main characters and into side characters like Biggs and Wedge as well.
I'm also happy to report that the combat is staying just as strong as Remake with the same feel to it but with more options such as the new Synergy system that seems to get more powerful with more options depending on choices and bonds we have made during our adventure with the characters we synergize with. Testers have stated that this new system "instills a sense of camaraderie and making the party feel unified"
We still aren't sure how far into the story Rebirth is going to go for sure, but many suggest that it may end somewhere around the big Aerith scene, if you know, you know, but will it turn out the same? Will we be able to change to outcome in Rebirth? Remake seems to hint heavily at our ability to change the future, and we will have to wait and see how much power we will be given to change the fates of characters.
The Producer of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth says we can expect more twists, but promises that the overall story will still link with Advent Children, but that leaves a lot of room for changes and surprises.
We know that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is around 80 to 100 hours long, and it's over 145 gigabytes in size, and it's no surprise with Square describing it as a "multifaceted world with a high degree of freedom" and during gameplay demonstrations we can see that not only do sections of the open world areas look huge and packed with content, but you will have multiple ways to traverse the landscape as well with chocobo breeding making a comeback allowing you to make different colored chocobos that have different abilities, such as climbing walls, sniffing out treasure or even straight up flying with the elusive rare black chocobo.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth also has crafting to make new items, armor or accessories, with some rare items only obtainable by leveling up your craftmanship to high levels.
