Tips to beating him for anyone who sees!

Phase 1: All named “!” attacks are dodged in a certain direction to pressure him. They must be dodged in the right direction to pressure him and since this is the only way you can effectively build stagger, you will have to learn the timings and directions. Using parry materia on Tifa helps with dodging more effectively. Stab is dodged by waiting about a second and dodging straight into him. You’ll do a vault animation over him automatically and pressure him. For Evisceration, you need to do a timed backwards dodge to avoid and pressure him. Finally for Crosswire Cleave, a dodge to the side avoids and pressures him. For this phase, I recommend sticking to just Tifa and holding up block the entire time to counter his basic attacks, then be ready to parry dodge in the right direction for his named attacks. For each pressured state, use Focused Strike to build up the stagger. Pressing dodge right after cancels the recovery animation and allows you to get another one off faster. Repeat until he’s staggered and unload your best attacks on him.

Phase 2: Ideally you should get him to at least half health after he recovers from his stagger. From here you’re going to want to switch between your characters and cast the strongest “aga” spells you have. Not only do they do good damage but they also stagger him out of pretty much any attack. He only takes damage from elemental so you really have no choice but to do phase 2 in this way. If you have a limit break, while it doesnt do any damage, it will stop him from doing anything for a few seconds as he’s caught in the animation so it’s useful for getting off more attacks with your characters. If you do all this, you should win!

The final new boss in the FF7 Remake Part 1 game and honestly a really cool, challenging and badass fight to finish it off. They really did not pull any stops for this fight and you’ve gotta play really good, especially in phase 1 or you get decimated so easily. This fight was also the first time playing the game I decided to equip the parry materia and I now see why it’s so damn good on Tifa haha. I mainly equipped it because I wanted extra assurance for dodging his special attacks in phase 1 so I could pressure him then go in with focused strikes to fill up his stagger gauge. I liked the concept of his unblockable attacks all needing to be dodged in a certain way to pressure him, it made it feel like a dark souls fight in a way, having to do this haha. I decided to just stick with Tifa all the way in phase 1 until he staggered as she would be the one doing all the dodging and her focused strikes are much more effective at building up his stagger meter than clouds focused thrust too.

While they say Gotterdamerung doesn’t work here it most definitely still does, it just doesn’t give you the instant LB 😆I did put this on Tifa so I could take away as much health before phase 2 as possible. I honestly expected to do a little more but around half was good enough. From there phase 2 was just about constantly switching between characters and shooting him down with magic, since he’s immune to any physical damage. Luckily with Tifa’s parry his attacks are fairly easy to dodge and he gives you more than enough time to kill him before he nukes your whole parry with Immaculate End. I was going to post my first win beating him as it was also no death, but I felt I could do it cleaner, especially phase 1 so I got this fight instead. Bosses in this game are top tier and I’m really looking forward to Rebirth! But first, I’ve still got an entire game’s worth of bosses in Hard mode to post
