Well, this was tedious to figure out. Carbuncle's basically immune to damage until you hit him with dark damage for three turns in a row. Then he goes into offense mode and gives himself a sizeable spirit debuff. Thing is, he's still really beefy against physical attacks even at this point, so attacks that target spirit are the way to go here. I used a couple of Lilas equipped with dark weapons to wreck him pretty quickly(and to keep from having a third character need to be applying dark attacks every turn), but my physical chainers could barely put a dent into him even after his mode change.

Also, he likes to use single target death attacks after the mode change, and he also likes to cast stop. So bring a provoke tank with genji shield/safety bit to deal with the former, and some sort of stop resistance for the latter.
