Final Fantasy IX Steiner Infinite Level Up Exploit
121If you have a turbo controller, you can take advantage of this little trick in the game. This is NOT a cheat, and it's NOT a glitch.
The first thing you need to do for this is obtain the Aries, Cancer, Gemini, and Taurus Stellazzios before leaving Treno on your first visit there. See how to obtain these here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_mN9q2yZmA
Turn those four in, and you will receive the Blood Sword. This is a weapon for Steiner which heals him for how much damage he deals every time he attacks.
Eventually on Disc 2, you will escape from a hanging cage with Steiner and Marcus. You will then see two soldiers run toward you from the left. Kill them, then run to the left side of this screen. As long as you don't climb the ladder to the next screen, there will be an infinite spawn of Alexandrian Soldiers here. You can see where this is going.
With the Blood Sword equipped, Steiner will never die. You will just be able to idle in this spot with a turbo controller and kill the soldiers as long as you wish. The only problem is a feature with these soldiers. They have 459 HP. If you deal over 400 HP without killing them, they will run away, and you will get no experience for that soldier. I recommend leveling Steiner up to around 15 before idling for this. You can do that by hitting the soldier first with Marcus, then with Steiner to make sure they don't run away. Around level 15 or so, Steiner will kill the soldiers in one hit nearly every time.
This video was around 11 minutes long, and Steiner grew from level 21-23 in that time. I would guess if you let this run overnight, Steiner would be near level 50 or so.
The only annoying thing about this is in this game, the other characters do not level up as the ones you are using level up. So if you raised Steiner to level 99 at this point, you would have a level 99 Steiner with all your other characters at like level 18. It would still make the game a lot easier.
