Story recap: King Tycoon was spotted entering the Desert of Sand Tides. The party chases after him to the Town of Ruin, falls down a pit, goes through a teleporter, and winds up below Crescent Island where their ship had sunk. Next to the sunken fire ship, they find a working airship, allowing them to take to the skies. The Town of Ruin collapses, giving way to a floating fortress, which Mid discovers is powered by the earth crystal.

After fighting their way into the fortress, they catch up with king Tycoon in the crystal room inside it. He's been possessed by the same force that controlled queen Karnak. Krile arrives on a meteor and snaps the king out of it, but the earth crystal shatters and X-Death is released. He attacks, killing the king, and departs for Galuf and Krile's home planet. They leave on Krile's meteor, refusing to allow the other three to come along.
