Sabin is lost due to the accident with the raft so he must find a way to get to Narshe to rejoin the others. As he recruits Shadow along the way, the Empire lands an attack on their next target, Doma. After the destruction of the castle, Cyan joins Sabin and
Shadow and together they board a haunted train. After a lot of fights, Shadow abandons the team and leaves Sabin and Cyan to continue their journey through Baren Falls where they meet a strange kid named Gau with shape-shifting abilities. Gau helps them find an item that enables them to breathe underwater so they can reach Narshe at last.
