Corel Prison is a dangerous place. It was also built over the ruins of what used to be Barret's hometown. Barret tells Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Red XIII, and Cait Sith the truth about his past. We learn that Barret convinced the Corel townspeople and his best friend Dyne to allow Shinra to build a reactor near their town. The decision ended in tragedy as the town was set ablaze. Many people died including Barret's wife, Myrna. Things don't get any easier after we learn his harsh backstory. Barret must survive a one on one duel with someone he never wanted to fight.
