Died a few times against Eligor. His AI seems random to me like it goes into different modes without a noticeable pattern. My first battle I got locked with everyone including him in Reflect when he had 5% HP remaining. Then that happened at the beginning of the fight and he stopped doing it. I also forgot to steal Bladed Staff during the battle that I ended up winning.

If you have mastered materia that prevents status ailments like Sleep and Silence then you'll have an easy time. I didn't.
