8Recap: Atop the Pharos at Ridorana, the party reaches the room of the Sun-cryst, where the mist runs thick. As Ashe considers her choice, a vision of Rasler greets her, now visible to the entire group. Suddenly, Judge Gabranth appears, encouraging Ashe to cut the crystal with the Treaty-blade, egging her on toward vengeance by reminding everyone of his past deeds. Reddas interrupts the brewing fight, revealing himself to have been Judge Zecht, forsaking his old name and judgeship from regret after having used the Midlight Shard to destroy Nabradia 2 years past.
Ashe, finally realizing what was happening, uses the treaty-blade to cut Rasler's image, revealing him to be an illusion created by the Occuria. Decision made to destroy the Sun-cryst, Gabranth engages the party in direct combat, but before long, Cid shows up, halting the fight. Cid tells Gabranth that by baring his sword at Ashe, he has failed in his duty, and relieves him of his charge. Gabranth strikes at Cid, but Venat protects him and flings Gabranth away.
Cid excites the the Sun-cryst, spilling out its mist violently. A battle with Cid ensues, this time resulting in his death, as his physical form dissipates into the mist. Fran collapses after the battle due to increasing activity in the mist coming from the Sun-cryst, warning that everyone needs to escape immediately. Ashe attempts to approach the Sun-cryst with the Sword of Kings, but can no longer reach it due to the violent reaction. Reddas takes the sword in his hand and sacrifices himself to destroy the Sun-cryst while everyone else gets away.
As Balfonheim mourns the loss of their leader, Al-Cid shows up at Reddas's manse, bringing news from Rozarria. Unable to keep a lid on the growing aggression, part of his fleet had joined Ondore's resistance in a direct attack on Archadian forces. Despite no longer having the power of nethicite, Al-Cid predicts that Vayne continues to hold the advantage, as he has awakened Bahamut, lord of the sky, by using the mist released from the Sun-cryst when Cid had agitated it. As Bahamut heads toward Rabanastre, the entire group vows to stop it. Al-Cid returns to Rozarria to continue delaying the invasion in any way he can.
