This is the 206th video in my Final Fantasy XIII playthrough. The party returns to Gran Pulse and travels to the end of the Haerii Oldroad, where a Cie'th barrier prevents the way forward. The Cie'th stone nearby gives the party a mission to defeat a Syphax in the depths of Mah'habara.
Syphax is a bat-like Cie'th. It is capable of summoning weak Numidia enemies into the battle. For paradigms, I recommend using Aggression (Commando-Ravager-Commando) or Cerberus (3 Commandos). When the leader targets Syphax, the other Commando(s) will mop up the Numidias. If you do use Cerberus, throw in a round or two of Relentless Assault (Ravager-Ravager-Commando) or Tri-disaster (3 Ravagers) to get Syphax staggered.
